Power flushing is a thorough cleaning process for your entire central heating system. We use high-velocity (not high-pressure) pumps to clear debris and sludge from the pipes and radiators.
We use only top-quality cleaning chemicals and corrosion inhibitors, and our engineers are trained with Kamco power flush machines, having completed advanced training at the Kamco Centre.
This process can solve most circulation problems. However, it can't reverse long-term corrosion. In some cases, radiators may still underperform or boilers on the verge of failure may stop working due to loosened sludge blocking the heat exchanger.
Before booking, we recommend ensuring all radiators and pipework are accessible.
Power flushing is the fastest and most effective way to clean central heating systems and involves minimal disruption or dismantling. At Assiduous Heating, we use purpose-built power flushing pumps designed to resolve circulation issues and boiler noise caused by sludge, corrosion, and scale—common in ageing central heating systems.
The Process
The power flushing pump is temporarily connected to the heating system. The high-velocity water flow, combined with rapid flow reversal, dislodges and mobilises sludge and corrosion deposits. After the power flush, your system is filled with clean water, and normal operation is quickly restored.
Benefits
Most power flushes result in:
-
Improved system efficiency
-
Restored radiator performance
-
Quieter boiler operation
Important Considerations
While power flushing resolves most circulation issues, it cannot reverse the long-term effects of corrosion and system decay. In rare cases:
-
Some radiators may still underperform if internal corrosion is advanced.
-
Boilers on the verge of failure may cease functioning after dislodged debris accumulates in the heat exchanger.
Potential for Leaks
It is uncommon but possible for leaks to occur during or after a power flush. This typically indicates advanced corrosion, and such leaks may have developed imminently even without a flush. As the system cannot be internally inspected beforehand, this risk must be acknowledged.
Additional Costs
The quoted price covers the power flushing process only. If further issues arise during or after the flush—such as leaks, boiler failure, or component replacement—additional repair costs will apply.
