  • What is a water conditioner, and how does it work?
A water conditioner is a device that alters the structure of minerals—mainly calcium and magnesium—in hard water to reduce scale build-up. Unlike traditional water softeners, conditioners do not remove these minerals but instead neutralise their ability to stick to surfaces like pipes and boilers.
  • How is a water conditioner different from a water softener?
Water conditioners are salt-free, maintenance-free, and environmentally friendly. Water softeners use salt and require regular maintenance to remove hardness minerals from the water. Conditioners are ideal for households that want to avoid ongoing maintenance or salt handling, especially in areas where water softener discharge is restricted.
  • Will a water conditioner improve my water pressure or flow?
Water conditioners don’t directly increase water pressure, but by preventing limescale build-up inside pipes and appliances, they can help maintain optimal flow and efficiency over time.
  • Do water conditioners remove existing scale?
Some advanced systems may gradually break down existing limescale over time, but they are primarily designed to prevent new scale from forming. For heavily scaled systems, we may recommend a one-off descaling treatment alongside the installation.
  • Is a water conditioner safe for drinking water?
Yes, absolutely. Because water conditioners do not add or remove anything from your water, your drinking water remains safe, natural, and mineral-rich—ideal for cooking, pets, and children.
  • How long does installation take?
Most water conditioners can be installed in under 2 hours by our professional engineers. There’s no major disruption, and the system starts working immediately after setup.
  • How long do water conditioners last?
Quality water conditioners typically last 10–15 years or more, depending on the model and water quality. They are virtually maintenance-free and cost-effective over their lifetime.
  • Do I need to service or replace filters?
No filters or salt are used with water conditioners, so there’s no ongoing servicing required. Just install and enjoy the benefits.
  • Can I install a water conditioner with a combi boiler or megaflo system?
Yes! Water conditioners are compatible with all types of domestic heating systems, including combi boilers, unvented cylinders (megaflo), and conventional setups.
  • Who services the new boiler?
Any Gas Safe engineer can do this, and we are fully qualified to carry out the service. A one-off service is £70 + VAT, or You can opt for our Service Plus Plan at £5.99 + VAT per month.
  • What’s included in a boiler service?
Cleaning key components Gas and combustion safety checks Full system assessment (takes approximately 45–60 minutes) Annual servicing is essential for maintaining warranty and ensuring long-term boiler performance. With our regular care, we aim for 12–15+ years of trouble-free operation.
  • Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. All our work is guaranteed for 12 months, covering both parts and labour. Boiler Installation Process How long does a boiler installation take? Combi or heat-only boiler swap: 1 day Powerflush: 1 day System change (from conventional cylinder to combi): 3 days Once booked, we aim to stick to your scheduled installation date. We build in ‘buffer days’ in our diary to handle any staff illness or unexpected delays. We offer a “show-up guarantee” for all installation bookings.
  • Who handles the paperwork?
We do. This includes: Filling out the benchmark in the manual Registering the boiler online for warranty Emailing you the building compliance certificate and warranty certificate We store digital copies of all documents for future reference.
  • What is a building compliance certificate?
This is your Gas Safe certificate, proving the boiler was installed by a registered Gas Safe company. It’s legally required, especially if you plan to sell your property. We can reissue it if you misplace it.
  • What is a warranty certificate?
This certifies your boiler’s warranty period (5, 10, or 12 years depending on model). To keep the warranty valid, you must service the boiler every year.
  • Who do we call if our boiler breaks down?
First of all, call us directly. We’ll try to guide you over the phone and may direct you to our YouTube channel, which contains helpful videos showing basic troubleshooting tips. If we can’t resolve the issue remotely, we will schedule a visit to carry out initial checks.
  • Will you charge us for the visit?
Yes. Our first hour is charged at £70 + VAT. If you’ve just had a boiler installed by us, we’ll carry out one free visit during working hours to check your boiler and show you how to perform basic maintenance like topping up pressure.
  • Are there any hidden charges with the boiler manufacturer?
No. Your new boiler comes with a 5 to 12-year warranty (depending on the model), which covers both parts and labour. As long as the boiler is serviced annually and was installed properly, the warranty remains valid. We offer service plans to help ensure you never miss an annual service.
